About the Lodge
Maclaren River Lodge sits along the remote and scenic Denali Highway, nestled in the breathtaking Maclaren River Valley near the base of the Maclaren Glacier. This is true high alpine country—wild, vast, and largely untouched. The Denali Highway includes the state’s second-highest mountain pass, making the journey here an adventure in itself.
Getting Here
If you’re traveling from the Paxson end of the Denali Highway, the lodge is located just 42 miles in, with the first 20 miles paved. For those coming from the Parks Highway side, the distance is about 92 miles, though only the first three miles are paved—so be prepared for a true off-the-grid experience.
Winter Access
During the winter months, the Denali Highway closes to through traffic, transforming the area into a remote winter wonderland. But don’t worry—adventure still awaits. Winter access to the lodge is available by snowmobile, dog team, or small aircraft, offering a unique and unforgettable way to experience Alaska's wilderness in its most serene and pristine season.
